The reason I chose the Monaro was pretty simple. Holden has been in our families blood for decades. My father worked for Holden in Sydney for several years as a Fitter & Turner. His job was too make new jigs for up and coming models so he always had an insight into what was coming out in a few years time. We have had a total of Eight Holdens in our family being a HQ & HZ Kinswood a VL & VN Commodore a VT Berlina and a Calibra. Having experienced all these, I myself inherited the HQ in 1987 as my first car which I did alot of mods on. Click on the thumbnails below to open larger images |

In 1994 I decided it was time for an update so I traded in the HQ for a VQII Statesman a car which I also modified extensively. Then one day in October 1998 my life was changed forever. Waking up to the news that Holden had surprised the motoring world with a concept coupe based on the VT Commodore. For me, instantly, this was no two door Commodore but instead the rebirth of the legendary Monaro. My dream had come true. The car I had been longing for, for so long, had arrived. Although there was no plan for it to go into production I had a hunch it would see the light of day. For the next three years I was glued to any news of the return off the Monaro. I myself started a push for the Monaro to be produced by starting up web forums. I also wrote a letter to the MD of Holden pleading with him to release the car. The letter was then published in the Wheels magazine. |

Once the news came in that it was being released as ecstatic as I was I knew I had a goal of owning one. And in January 2002 there in my garage was sitting a Phantom Black Monaro with a Hot Red Interior. The dream had been realised. Being a Holden lover and a car lover in general I appreciate a good car. A car is more than getting you from A to B. Its how you get there that counts. THE MONARO HAS IT ALL. A statement which gets misused with alot of other cars. The Monaro is not just another car it is the "CAR". When you look at the Monaro this is what you get. You get a large luxury sports coupe with the performance/dynamics/equipment that you would expect out of a rear drive vehilcle that contains one of the most powerful engines in the world. The luxury level from the electric memory seats right through too the dual climate control is up there with the best. |

The styling off the body is one of the sexiest most muscley ones ever found in the auto world. Combined with the performance of the glorious GENIII in terms of power output, smoothness & fuel economy, not to mention sound (post mods), add in handling, braking & safety capabilities at a price of what it is, it makes this car the buy of the century.
